PowerWind GmbH is a German OEM of onshore wind turbines (500 kW, 850 kW, 900 kW and 2500 kW) and service provider, focusing on Community-scale wind projects. These wind farms of between one and 30 MW are mostly locally owned; the energy is often consumed in the immediate vicinity of the turbines. Typical customers include local businesses, factories and farmers, regional project developers and power providers, schools and universities as well as municipalities and leisure facilities. Backed by U.S. growth investor Warburg Pincus, the company has a successful four-year operative track record in seven countries.

PowerWind GmbH has two locations in Germany, one in Hamburg, one in Bremerhaven.
The manufacturing facility in Bremerhaven offers 5,000 m² of space and its two production lines are among the most modern in the world.

Our successes

Following a development phase of only 12 months, the first prototype of the 900 kW wind turbine, PowerWind 56, was installed in July 2007. Serial production started in January 2008 at the manufacturing and servicing plant in Bremerhaven. Wind energy converters from PowerWind impress with superior yields and reliability. To date, the PowerWind 56 has been sold to customers in Italy, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Germany, Azerbaijan and the US. In 2009, PowerWind GmbH made its first public presentation of the newly developed 2.5 MW platform. The PowerWind 90 was the first product to be based on this platform and was sold and successfully commissioned in 2010.
